After Harvey Weinstein’s fall from grace, you’d like to think that there isn’t any safe place left for inappropriate predatory behavior to thrive.
It’s 2018, so isn’t it time that everyone had a little more respect for women? It’s time that those in the world who think they can manhandle a woman are kicked to the curb. Not literally, because you can’t fight abuse with violence.
Well, maybe just a little. Watch these kick-ass women prove that the fairer sex shouldn’t be messed with…
One woman who had no choice but to bite back is Leanna Carr, who found herself the unwitting victim of a sexual assault whilst on holiday in Dublin, Ireland.
The 26-year-old from Fort Collins, Colorado, was innocently exploring the streets of the city when she felt a rogue hand on her butt.
Then, she felt an instant surge of rage as her attacker crooned, “You’re an American, you probably liked it.”
For most women in a similar situation, there is only one way to respond: shrink into one’s self and hope the threat goes away.
But that reaction wasn’t in Carr’s nature. As a powerlifter, the brunette beauty wasn’t ready to just let her attacker get away with it.
Instead, she used her unique set of skills to ensure that he’d regret it.
“My first reaction was to punch him in the face,” Carr wrote on Twitter along with photographic evidence of her bruised knuckles.
After she landed a swift one square in his face, Carr took a moment to make sure the man would never repeat his offense by warning him to “never touch a girl like that again.”
Whilst I wasn’t there to witness it, I can’t help but feel a swelling sense of pride for Carr’s ruthless reaction.
There is no doubt that her attacker felt a little foolish for his actions. Hopefully, Carr’s actions will deter him from behaving in the same way again.
Meanwhile, for Carr, the incident has left her feeling a mix of emotions.
“My first reaction was a little guilt, wondering if I had done the right thing in the situation,” she told The Irish Independent. “I don’t think violence is always the answer, and I did get lucky that the altercation didn’t end up badly for me.”
The altercation did even leave her wondering if she should return to America. However, she decided not to let it interrupt her solo travel adventures around Europe – besides, America is hardly the safest place to escape to!
Luckily, Carr has been able to continue on her travels without further incident. In fact, she credits her solo experience as the factor that made her strong enough to fight back that day in Dublin.
She now has a further three weeks traveling across Europe, where it’s likely that her reputation will proceed her!
You all thought that Wonder Woman was fictitious? Well, it would appear that’s not the case, she is alive and well, embodied in Carr. Maybe she will feature in the upcoming sequel? Let’s make it happen!
