Are you one of those poor people who is literally too poor to ever afford a supercar? Yeah me too, it’s an absolute nightmare.
Well thankfully photographer Max Siedentopf is doing all of us morbidly broke people a favour by pimping up our run-of-the-mill cars… at night… with cardboard. In a project he has labelled ‘Slapdash Supercars’ he sneaks around the streets of Amsterdam at night, using cardboard panels to turn shit motors into something resembling a supercar.
Speaking to Vice about why he spends his nights on this bizarre pastime, he said: “Individuality, self-expression and status are more important than ever these days. But for some reason you see that things as ordinary as cars are getting personalised less and less, while it could be a strange but great form of self-expression. I thought I’d do people a favour by giving them a custom-made supercar.”
Armed with a few pieces of cardboard and masking tape, this is the end result
I love the attention to detail, great stuff
The spoilers are the best part for me
I’d be overjoyed to wake up to a ‘Siedentopf original’
I’m even contemplating moving to Amsterdam with my shit car to try and make the cut
With each car sporting different features, it really is a unique project
I want mine to have a sick grill across the front
“Individuality, self-expression and status are more important than ever these days” – we couldn’t agree more Max
Any chance of you moving to London Max?
So this is the coolest thing EVER. While Max is currently only working his cardboard magic in Amsterdam, his website states that he, “grew up in Windhoek, Namibia and continued to live in Berlin and Los Angeles” – which means there is still hope that he will move to your town and pimp out your outdated ride. What a champ.
