The UN’s Disciplinary Report: Child Porn, Weed And A Chainsaw On A Plane

The United Nations was set up to help ensure cohesion between the countries of the world. They help nations work together in the most peaceful and efficient way possible. In this sense, they’re a bit like management consultants – just on a far more global scale.

But with 41,000 employees, there are bound to be a few bad apples in there somewhere. And according to their own disciplinary report, some of those bad apples are rotten to the core. From distributing child pornography to getting caught with almost 30 stone of marijuana, these guys are no angels.

Four UN staff members were dismissed for receiving, storing and distributing child porn using UN networks and their work computers. It’s unclear as to whether charges were filed against the unnamed individuals. For storing adult material on their work computer, a staff member was demoted and blocked from promotion for two years.

Unbelievably, the 380-pound haul of marijuana was found in an “official” UN vehicle. Needless to say, the individual was let go. One staff member attempted to get a chainsaw on a flight as a favour to another. This person was separated from service “with compensation”.

In scenes that resemble a cowboy movie on crack cocaine, one employee drove a tractor into the office of another (with violent intent) while elsewhere in the report, there were inter-employee fights which respectively involved a knife and a pool cue.

While you would be forgiven for thinking that the UN were all peace-loving pacifists, clearly they don’t always practise what they preach. In fact, I imagine their HR department is in a constant state of turmoil. That said, if a 380-pound bag of weed won’t unite nations I don’t know what will.
