The Stars Of ‘I’m A Celebrity’ 2017 Aren’t Getting Paid As Much As You Think They Are

How much would someone have to pay you to eat a kangaroo’s testicle or a fermented egg? For many, the answer will be millions. For others, there isn’t a price that you could put on being forced to eat a witchetty grub!

But apparently, there are some D-list celebrities who are willing to do it for very little compensation…

Every year, dozens of British celebrities trek into the Australian jungle to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! They take part in gruesome trials which involve eating grotesque bugs and lying in a spider and snake-infested pit.

Naturally, we assume that they do so for money. What other incentives are as attractive?! Even if they are guaranteed 15 minutes of fame from appearing on the show – a complimentary gift to each jungle camper.

But unless you’re Katie Price and Peter Andre, who revived their questionable careers off the back of the show, it is a short-lived venture. So, back to the money, that must be why the celebrities are there.

This year’s stars include Olympic silver medalist, Amir Khan and Stanley Johnson, father to the former London mayor, Boris Johnson. They have recently moved into the jungle camp, which is based a few hundred kilometers north of Sydney.

Any hopes of a holiday escape for the celebrities are quickly extinguished within the first episode, as the contestants are thrown into shocking scenarios for the entertainment of millions of viewers back in the United Kingdom.

It is these viewers who vote for their favorite each night to save them from elimination. This system generates the money with which the producers pay each participant. But it isn’t as much as you’d think…

The highest paid star to ever appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is reportedly former glamor model turned businesswoman Katie Price, then known as ‘Jordan’, who rose to fame thanks to her surgically-enhanced assets.

Price first appeared in the third series of the show in 2004, where she met her former husband, Peter Andre. Price was the fifth to be eliminated, but that didn’t stop her returning in 2009 after being paid a reported £400,000.

But most stars don’t even see half that sum when they sign the dotted line on their contracts…

The biggest names are allegedly offered £250,000 for their commitment to the show, along with money to cover any loss of earnings that they may experience during their three weeks in the jungle.

For example, Countdown star Carol Vorderman was paid an estimated $200,000 for her time on the show in 2016 – despite being the fifth person to be voted off.

This year, it is said that the stars on the highest whack are Amir Khan, Stanley Johnson and Coronation Street sweetheart, Jennie McAlpine.

Meanwhile, YouTuber Jack Maynard, the least known person on the show, is thought to be being paid the least. A source who spoke to The Sun said that he is being paid “somewhere around the £25,000 mark.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will only pay out to a celebrity if they last 72 hours on the show. If they quit before this allotted time, then their paycheck is dramatically cut.

Meanwhile, Ant and Dec are reportedly earning £23,000 a day each. This means that they take home nearly half a million for their time on the show, and they have the privilege of getting to stay in luxury accommodation!

The winner of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! is not rewarded with any money for their commitment and entertainment value. Instead, they are simply given the title of ‘King/Queen of the Jungle’.

As the series commences, take some time to familiarize yourself with the stars of the show…

Amir Khan became a household name in 2004 when he won silver at the Olympic Games. With 31 wins out of 35 fights, he is undeniably amazing at boxing. However, his home life is a little less of a winner. Watch this video to learn more:
