Game of Thrones is continually growing in popularity, and fans will be devastated when their journey through the Seven Kingdoms comes to a close next year. Season seven has been one of the most talked about shows this summer, and there have been some stand out performances from actors who have made their names on the show.
As you can probably tell, a lot of time andmoney goes into the production of Game of Thrones. That’s why there was such uproar last week when episode six, ‘Beyond the Wall’, was leaked prematurely. In fact, in 2016 it was reported that just one episode costs a staggering $10 million to produce.
But what about the stars of the show? How much do they earn? Well, I can guarantee you that unless they are extremely stupid with their money, the show’s top five earners will be living like the royals they play for the rest of their lives. On reflection, I should have taken acting classes as a child…
Two of the most talked about actors from season seven are Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke, who are currently in the midst of defending the living from the Night King and the army of the dead whilst dealing with their growing feelings for each other – feelings which could result in the show’s second incestous relationship.
Why is Jon and Daenerys relationship incestous? Well, that is because it is a long held fan theory that Jon is the son of the Mad King, which would make them siblings, However, even if Kit or Emilia felt reluctant about playing on-screen incestous lovers, they can take comfort in the $500,000 they rake in for each episode.
We can also take comfort in the fact that unlike other popular TV productions, there’s absolutely no gender pay gap on Game of Thrones.
But Kit and Emilia aren’t the only Game of Thrones stars who earn half a million per episode – Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau do too. In case you are wondering, that’s Tyrion, Cersei and Jamie Lannister. We are all hoping that Cerscei gets what’s coming to her soon…
Speaking about the show’s high budget – which is going to result in an epic battle in season seven’s finale – co-showrunner D.B. Weiss said, ”We’ve always wanted to get to a place – story-wise and budget-wise and time-wise and resource-wise – where we would be able to do a proper battle, with one army on one side, one army on another side.”
Named ‘The Dragon and the Wolf”, season seven’s finale is due to air this weekend, and we couldn’t be more excited. There are countless fan theories floating around the internet about what is going to happen in this no doubt dramatic episode, but one thing is for sure – it is going to leave fans waiting with baited breath for season eight.
