Everyone has heard the name Sylvester Stallone. He’s one of the most iconic action stars in the history of cinema, and most people know him for playing boxer Rocky Balboa and Vietnam War veteran John Rambo.
But his talents certainly aren’t just limited to his portrayals of his characters. No siree! He is also a critically acclaimed writer, director, and producer.
The veteran actor was born Michael Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan, on July 6, 1946. He was raised in Washington, D.C. but went to college in Florida before moving back to New York City.
And while you may know Stallone as a successful actor now, it wasn’t all plain sailing for the Rocky actor. In the early 70s, a young Stallone struggled to support himself financially to the extent that he found himself sleeping in a bus terminal.
In a bid to make a little money, Stallone agreed to take a role in a softcore X-rated movie.
Then just a few years later he became an international superstar as the writer and star of the 1976 movie Rocky.
Watch the video below to revisit the movie’s most iconic scene:
At the time, the mere notion that the movie would become a box office hit would have been almost unthinkable. I mean, the star was seemingly an amateur writer and actor and its makers had an extremely small budget to work with.
Ultimately, the movie became the highest-grossing movie of 1976 with an enviable three Oscars to its name.
Following the movie’s unexpected success, Stallone knew he was on to a winner and so went on to write four more sequels, and the fifth was written by another screenwriter.
And, as is common in Hollywood, Stallone has remarried a couple of times in his life. In total, he has had three marriages resulting in five beautiful children. Tragically, however, his eldest son, Sage, passed away back in 2012.
His three youngest children, all daughters, are now grown up and are professional models. Their names are Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet and they have managed to gain a huge amount of success in their own rights.
But before they were born, he had two children, Sage and Seargeoh, with his first wife, Sasha Czack, whom he married in 1974.
Then in 1985, he married Brigitte Nielsen but the married only lasted two years.
More than a decade later in 1997, Stallone got married a third time to Jennifer Flavin.
Flavin gave birth to three beautiful daughters. In 1996, the couple had their first child Sophia. She was joined in 1998 by Sistine, and the couple welcomed their youngest child Scarlet in 2002.
The eldest, Sophia, is now 21 years old. Sistine, the middle child, is 19 years old, and their baby sister, Scarlet, is only 15 years old.
Now, these young women are up and coming models and are doing a fantastic job of making a name for themselves.
At the 74th Golden Globe Awards in 2017, Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet were all honored as Miss Golden Globe.
And Sophia was very recently made a judge on Project Runway, plus she and Sistine did a Dolce & Gabbana ad campaign.
Incredibly, the models are still intent on making the most out of their education. In fact, Sophia and Sistine are both currently students at the University of Southern California.
And it should come as no surprise that Stallone is fiercely proud of his three daughters for all of their accomplishments.
He is constantly sharing photos of himself and his beloved daughters on Instagram with loving captions such as, “With my wonderful daughters on a magazine photo shoot that I crashed.”
Plus the girls’ mother, Jennifer Flavin, also makes sure to post plenty of photos of her striking daughters. And why shouldn’t she? They’re beautiful, classy and accomplished just like her.
Here’s hoping that these three young women’s careers continue to flourish as they certainly have a bright future ahead of them in the fashion industry.
