Olga Pronina, who went by the username Monika9422 online, had garnered thousands of followers for her raunchy motorbike stunts, which saw her wearing nothing but a thong and high heels whilst riding her bike at high speed. The 40-year-old from Russia was often named the “Queen of Bikers” by fans who watched as she rode her BMW S1000RR in some questionably racy outfits.
But fans were left devastated when it was confirmed that the Instagram star, who worked as a hairdresser, had been killed in a horrific crash which claimed her life almost instantly.
Pronina, who leaves behind a 16-year-old daughter, was racing through the city of Vladivostok in Russia, when she lost control of her bike and ploughed into a side railing. She was thrown from her bike and died before emergency services could reach her.
Pronina first started riding motorcycles when she was 21-years-old. The self confessed adrenaline junkie quickly became obsessed and became an incredibly skilled driver, according to friends.
Her seductive videos and pictures resulted in her 150,000 followers on Instagram, where she would write about her love for dangerous stunts:
“I am grateful to it for the sparkles in my eyes, for the warm wind blowing on my cheeks when my visor is open, for unbelievable excitement and a feeling of flowing in the air, for doses of adrenaline.”
“Thank you for gifting me freedom… and I know that I am not alone. There are thousands like me, those madly in love with their metal horses.”
When the emergency services arrived at the scene, they found Pronina’s bike split in half from the impact. One of the tyre’s from the BMW bike had travelled hundreds of meters away from the scene, highlighting just how severe the incident was, and the speed Pronina has been driving.
It is unclear if she was filming when the incident occurred, but her mobile phone could not be found at the scene.
According to local reports, Pronina has accumulated dozens of speeding offences whilst performing stunts for her viral videos.
Shocked fans took to Instagram to voice their heartbreak at their idols tragic death, with many sharing pictures of the Instagram star with captions reading, “Rest in Peace”.
Eduard Hasanov, a close friend of the “sexiest motorcyclist in the world” was devastated by the news. “She was breaching every rule of safety and riding at high-speed pretty often. Her death is incredibly tragic,” he told the local media.
Another friend who arrived at the scene just 10 minutes after the incident told the local news: “She was high-speeding and the rear wheel of the bike was lying 600 meters from the scene. We tried to find her action camera, but could not find it.”
The horrific crash is a cruel reminder to thrill seekers that you are always at risk when driving recklessly. Sadly, that reminder comes at the price of a young mothers life. Pronina’s dangerous stunts inspired thousands of other Instagram users, who are now questioning if it is worth it.
But one has to wonder that if it wasn’t for her strong Instagram following and this strong desire to become “famous” that so many people crave via social media, would Pronina ever be riding at such high speeds?
Our thoughts are with Pronina’s family and friends at this troubling time.
