Gone are the days when sex was a taboo subject. Now high street stores sell an array of kinky goods to help couples improve their sex lives, and porn is frequently discussed amongst friends. Never before have people been so exposed to the fact that there are so many ways to get it on.
In such a sexually liberated world, it is easy to convince yourself that your sex life is vanilla. After all, you can now buy a vibrating c*ck ring in the same aisle that you buy your shampoo in the supermarket! It is no wonder then that so many couples are opting to spice things up in the bedroom.
Whether that involves purchasing a pair of frilly handcuffs and a spank paddle, or going for a less arduous option like downloading the Kama Sutra app, most of us can admit to being sexually adventurous on at least one occasion. I mean, have you tired the Standing 69?
But that begs the question; what are the most popular sex positions in 2017? Has the dawn of sex toys for couples forever changed how we do it? Could it be that the oh-so bizarre Froggie Style is more popular than it sounds? What about The Yogi? Well, you’re about to find out.
Once you’ve settled into a relationship, you and your partner quickly discover that there are a few positions that help you both ride the train to Pleasure Town. When it is a tried and tested method, it’s more than likely that you’ll return to it again and again.

The health website DrEd decided to find out once and for all what the world’s most popular sex position is – across oceans and sexualities. They surveyed over 2,000 people from the US, Europe and the UK to discover if we are as kinky as the high street suggests.
You would think that in the age of double ended dildos and spreader bars that we’d be more creative, but it turns out that the world’s most popular sex position is a fairly standard one. It’s good old doggy style. Thirty-five percent of those surveyed said it was their position of choice.
I would have thought that when it came to vanilla positions that missionary would have come out on top, but there you go. Missionary is actually the second most popular sex position, with 22.5% of people surveyed citing it as their favorite.
Cowgirl came in third place with 19.5% of the vote.
I wonder if couples prefer doggy style because it’s a workout for both parties…
Whilst the world’s most popular sex positions aren’t surprising, the least popular are. There might be an array of flavored condoms and lubricants available these days, but only 3.2% of people say that oral is their position of choice.
What is even more interesting is that there isn’t a huge amount of variation between the sexes when it comes to the most popular sex positions – although, perhaps unsurprisingly, anal doesn’t even rank when it comes to women’s positions of choice.
We may live in a world where sex is discussed and promoted more than ever before, but even if you have got a loyalty card for your local dildo merchant, it seems like we can all agree on the fact that the best go-to positions are still pretty vanilla.
The Butter Churner sounds like too much effort anyway.
