One of the key tenets of Donald Trump's campaign to become President of the United States was border control. Specifically, he told voters that he was intending to build a wall on the border of Mexico and the United States. This "big, beautiful wall" that Trump spoke about swayed a lot of voters, and pressure has been put on the Trump after his successful election victory to keep his word.
Now, Trump's first budget has been released. As expected, there's been a big focus on the budget for defence and border control. Nick Mulvaney, Trump's budget director, has announced that $1.5billion of the budget will go towards construction plans for the wall, with that figure rising to $2.6billion in 2018.
This will come as a shock to many, as it was repeatedly stated throughout Trump's presidential campaign that Mexico were footing the bill for Trump's wall. What's more, the construction of the wall will be expensive; it is predicted to cost up to $21billion and take more than three years to build.
