Gun-Toting Bride Arrested After Wedding For Pointing Weapon At Groom

We have all heard some horror stories about wedding ceremonies, receptions and honeymoons. Just because it’s one of the most important days of your life doesn’t mean nothing will go wrong, in fact there is so much pressure on that one event that you may become overwhelmed by the organisation, finding yourself swamped in problems before too long.

Yet on the whole, the honeymoon is meant to be one of the best parts of a relationship. You are fresh from a day of sharing your love for one another in the company of your family and closest friends, and can now relax and enjoy your time together without worrying about work or what the future holds.

It is extremely rare then, for the honeymoon period after the wedding to contain not just a passionate argument, but firearms, the threat of violence, and an encounter with the police. All in all, this is the kind of situation you wouldn’t expect, but will no doubt want to avoid. But for one recently-married couple, this was the very situation they found themselves in.

A couple in Murfreesboro, Tennessee were married last week, but the festivities didn’t last for very long. Witnesses at the scene revealed that the newly-married bride was arrested for brandishing a gun during a verbal spat with her new husband. According to police, the bride was still in her wedding dress when she was handcuffed and put in the back of a patrol car.

The 25-year-old woman, Kate Elizabeth Prichard, had only gotten married to her husband a few hours before when the police were called to the motel they were staying in. The local police responded to an unusual call at the Clarion Inn, and arrived to find Prichard arguing with her husband.

“Both were very uncooperative with authorities,” Sgt. Kyle Evans from the Murfreesboro Police Department explained, “It was actually a witness who pointed us in the right direction”. Yet after speaking to witnesses, it appeared that they had been drinking and arguing outside the motel when the bride brandished a gun.

“She pulled out of her wedding dress a 9 mm pistol,” Evans explained, “Pointed it at her new husband’s head and pulled the trigger”. Luckily for the groom, the gun wasn’t loaded. After this Kate loaded a round into the chamber and fired a shot into the air, causing people to run from the area.

When questioned the newlyweds claimed that nothing was wrong, but soon after, a shell casing was discovered, and Prichard’s weapon was found hidden in the bathroom. “Responding officers let the husband know the honeymoon was over and his new wife was going to jail” Evans explained.

Kate was charged with aggravated domestic assault, and eventually posted a $15,000 bond. Police officials say the case will be sent to the Grand Jury, though there may be further charges added in the future.
