The breakup of a long-term relationship is never easy. When you acquire a partner, you invest a lot of time and energy into trying to make your relationship work, but unfortunately, even after you’ve agreed to get married, the relationship can fall apart.
That was the case for WWE’s Nikki Bella and John Cena who announced their separation at the weekend, ending a six-year relationship and their engagement. The pair were due to get married three weeks from now in Mexico after John proposed at Wrestlemania last year.

Sadly, the reported reason for John and Nikki’s breakup was something which he had been honest with her about from the outset: he did not want children.
Having previously been married to Elizabeth Huberdeau for three years, he also told Nikki that he had no intention of remarrying. While he eventually changed his mind about this, his opinion on having children did not change because he wanted to focus entirely on his career.
A source anonymously told People of the split: “They have had an on and off relationship for years. It’s no secret that they didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of things, but, when you’re in love, you turn a blind eye. And that’s what Nikki did.”
This ‘source’ also revealed information about Nikki’s twin sister Brie’s alleged reaction to the split, adding, “On one level, she wants to kill [John].”
The 34-year-old former Divas Champion, however, has now hit back at this claim on Instagram, circling the quotation and revealing that there is no truth to it.
Brie also took the opportunity to express her warm feelings towards 40-year-old John and wish him and her sister all the best after their split.
“I’ll always love @johncena like a brother. He’ll always be family. My heart is hurting for he and my sister,” she wrote.
But John and Nikki’s differing views on parenthood were not the only sign that their relationship would ultimately fail.
Prior to letting Nikki move in with him, John made her sign a 72-page document – a bit much for your partner, don’t ya think?
This document included the condition that she would leave his house immediately should they break up.
While having children certainly isn’t for everyone, when Nikki got a pet dog to keep her company when Cena was away from home, John made her give the pooch away to her sister.
“Look, I know I cannot handle raising a child. It’s like with the dog,” John said to Rolling Stone in 2016. “My biggest thing to Nikki about the dog was: Love dogs, but I can’t contribute to taking care of one. I don’t have the time.”
It’s also worth noting that in September of last year Nikki accused John of cheating because he wanted to go to the gym alone. Although unfounded, it did point to trust issues in their relationship.
While there might have been signs that John and Nikki weren’t going to stand the test of time, it’s clear that they both cared for each other very deeply. We’d like to wish them all the best during this difficult time. Hopefully, they will both find more suitable partners in the future.
