There are so many iconic and internationally recognized faces out there. It doesn’t matter whether they’re historical, fictional, or from one of our favorite TV shows. And everyone has at least one high-profile figure that they wish they could look like.
But while you might hear of obsessed fans spending thousands of dollars on cosmetic surgery in order to look exactly like their idol, such measures are probably a tad bit too extreme for the average person to go to.
On Sunday, Yuya He, a beauty blogger based in south-west China astonished her followers after she filmed her transformation into the Mona Lisa:
But what if you could turn yourself into someone you and millions of people around the world admired using just makeup?
Well, that’s exactly what a talented woman by the name of Yuya He did.
She then uploaded the impressive video, which saw her recreate the Leonardo da Vinci work of art, the Mona Lisa, on her Miaopai video channel.
To replicate the 16th-century masterpiece, Yuya used makeup to turn her face into the spitting image of the famous Renaissance painting.
Then on Tuesday, the former makeup artist from Chongqing, uploaded another video of her transformation into the Lady with an Ermine, another oil painting by Da Vinci.
Yuya explained to the Daily Mail that her decision to make the video was very spontaneous. Her followers requested that she take on the makeup challenge in jest, and she immediately went for it.
She had no idea that the video would go viral so quickly.
The video has since garnered more than 800,000 views on Miaopai and over 20 million views on Dou Yin, the video platform where she originally posted the video.
“The response is just overwhelming,” she said. “I appreciate all the support I’ve received and I’m so happy that viewers like the transformation.”
The clip begins with the talented artist applying double eyelid tape and foundation on her face.
She then starts applying contour and highlight on her forehead, her nose, and chin.
Then, right at the end, Yuya puts on a wig to recreate Mona Lisa’s dark locks.
“Once you see your face as a blank sheet of paper, the opportunities are endless,” she wrote.
“I love oil paintings myself,” she said. “So when I saw the great response on the Mona Lisa video, I went on to create Lady with an Ermine to continue the Da Vinci theme.”
Each transformation takes about four to six hours to complete, Yuya explained.
But the inspiration behind her artistic transformations certainly isn’t just limited to Renaissance paintings
The 27-year-old artist also filmed herself using her makeup kit to turn herself into Grammy-award-winning singer, Taylor Swift and so far the video clip has received an impressive 390,000 views.
Yuya also transformed herself into Teresa Teng, a singer from Taiwan, and her mother’s favorite of all time.
But more importantly, she transformed herself into Selena Gomez:
And Tilda Swinton:
And Cate Blanchett:
Although Yuya, whom her followers have rightly hailed as the “Makeup Master”, has admitted to being unsure who she will turn herself into next, we are sure it will be incredible.
